Empowering Samburu Women through Agriculture


The Samburu are semi-nomadic pastoralists based in northern Kenya who largely depend on cattle. Among their traditions are the early marriage of young girls and Female Genital Mutilation. Twenty women from different communities in the Wamba area joined hands to deal with these harmful traditions and formed the Samaletu Women Group.





Sustainability and Inclusion: Transforming Lives and the Environment


Idris, the chair of the group, is passionate about tree planting and educating people on the negative effects of climate change. He started Memita Disables group as a sanctuary for others like him who are also disabled. The group gives them a sense of belonging and they contribute to the meaningful work of saving planet earth, as they put it on their gate.
